A Word From the Coach

East Coast Nationals Tournament 10/1:  Our first match of the day was against another tough team from Michigan, CHASE Conquerors. We were able to run our offense and the defense played great, helping us pull out a 25-18, 25-22 victory. The Championship match we played a team from Kentucky, LIGHT. This team had 2 middles that were both over 6ft 4inches tall and they played great defense behind them. This was a day that the team decided they would not lose. We executed our offensive plays and kept them out of system for most of the match. By keeping them out of system, we basically nullified their middles and gave us multiple opportunities to score. Our defensive rotations were on point for most of the match and we limited our mistakes. The final score 25-16, 25-19, FHE Hawks came back to North Carolina as the 5A East Coast HomeSchool National Champions. We finished the tournament in 9th place with a record of 5 and 1.

Greensboro 9/9: We had our 2nd home match of the season and it was against our rival Greensboro. I promised that I would buy the team ice cream if they could win in 3 and they delivered a classic. We were down 22-18 in the opening set and pulled out a 26-24 win.  The next 2 sets were just as close, but we were able to pull away and maintain the momentum from the first set. This was a big emotional win and showed some great focus and team chemistry, plus it cost me some ice cream money.
