I am beyond blessed to have worked with such a great group of young ladies this volleyball season! We started the season with seven of the ten girls having no volleyball experience. Over the season, they learned so much and developed such great character on the court. In the beginning, we only rotated around the court, learning how to control and hit the ball. By the end of the season, they were playing back/front positions taking the skill one step closer to being ready to pick a position they enjoy playing. At the start of the season, after we lost the first game we huddled together, and the consensus from the group was “we love the game of volleyball” despite having lost. At the end of the season, we went into our conference 5th out of the six teams. During our last game, after we won the third set to take home first place, the referee informed me that was one of the most exciting games that he had watched. The reason being no matter whether our team made a good play or a bad play they kept on smiling; win or lose they still “love the game of volleyball” and it showed each time they played.
